European Central Bank pushes for CBDC launch in 2029

Nigeria, the Bahamas and Jamaica are only three jurisdictions that have launched CBDCs, according to the American think tank, the Atlantic Council.

The European Central Bank has decided to move to the next phase of the digital euro, provided a legal framework can be hammered out.
Officials working on the European central bank digital currency will continue to lay the groundwork after concluding the preparation phase that started in late 2023, the ECB officially announced on Thursday.
